"With a deadline looming of 4:30 PM Monday for turning in gathered signatures for the Portland Mayoral Race ballot, coupled with the unlikely event of gathering the remaining signatures in the allotted time, I regretfully withdraw my name from the Portland Mayoral Race. To supporters of my campaign, I wish them well and thank them, and for those that did not support the effort to get on the ballot, I wish them the enjoyable experience of getting hit by a bus."

update on the Mayor race: 241 signatures out of the 300 (plus a buffer) needed. Deadline 4:30 pm Monday.

Count now stands at 96 out of 300.

For the record, I didn't "officially" jump in the race until Friday. You could look at any one of my columns from the past two years and think they were hinting at a run. Pick three at random.

Off To A Good Start.

Between Friday afternoon/evening and some footwork on Saturday, I've managed to get 58 signatures of the 300 needed. Since my afternoons are free now, this can only be a good sign! Today, Monument Square again, Back Cove, and Munjoy Hill (Yup, in the usual spot, outside Colluci's !)

Yup, The Fatboy Is Running.

Headed up to Portland City Hall this afternoon to pick up my nomination papers. 300 signatures in ten days. It CAN be done.
